Despite some very determined play, particularly at home, the Medicine Hat Cubs lost both games over the weekend.
The two-game slate started on Friday in Okotoks where the Cubs dropped a 6-1 decision to the Bisons.
Mason Osinski scored the Cubs lone goal in the loss, while Kayne Wright made 47 saves.
They returned to the Kinplex on Saturday where they were shutout 3-0 by the Cochrane Generals. The Cubs deserved a better fate, controlling much of the play and racking up the shots, but the Generals blocked and cleared multiple close opportunities as the home squad pinged the post a number of times. Marlo DeRosa made 24 saves in the loss, while Cochrane’s Isaias Maddigan stopped all 34 shots he faced.
The Cubs (7-6-1) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend, facing Cochrane on Friday before taking on the Coaldale Copperheads on Saturday.
